RFID Jewellery Tags & Stock Audit: A Complete Guide for Jewellery Stores

posted on: 15 Oct, 2026 | 05:46:43 PM by Indian RFID

Manual stock checking in a jewellery store means opening every packet, reading every barcode and reconciling hundreds or thousands of pieces - often after closing hours. RFID jewellery tags change that. This guide from Indian RFID, the first choice of jewellers for RFID, explains how it works.

1. Tagging

Each piece gets a small RFID tag (dumbbell or tail tag) with a printed area for weight, purity, design code and price code. The tag's chip holds a unique number linked in the software to the item's details and BIS HUID.

2. Counting

A handheld reader passed over a tray, box or locker reads all tags in seconds. The software compares what was read with what should be there and shows missing or extra pieces immediately.

3. Billing and movement

At the counter, a desktop reader identifies the piece for billing. Transfers between branches, to karigars or to exhibitions are recorded by reading the tags at dispatch and receipt.

4. Security

RFID gates at the exit alert staff if a tagged piece that has not been billed leaves the showroom.

What results can you expect?

  • Full-store stock audits completed many times faster than manual checking
  • Daily stock verification becomes practical
  • Fewer billing errors and faster customer service
  • Better control of approval, exhibition and karigar stock
